Dr. James Andrews to be Honored by Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Friday, May 25

GULF BREEZE, Fla. (May 21, 2018) – The Pensacola Blue Wahoos will play host to Dr. James Andrews Appreciation night on Friday, May 25 at 6:35 p.m. at Blue Wahoos Stadium. Dr. Andrews will be honored for the impact he has made on Northwest Florida community.

The first 2,000 fans to Blue Wahoos Stadium will receive a commemorative Dr. Andrews bobblehead. Dr. Andrews will throw out the first pitch before the game and will be presented with a custom Blue Wahoos jersey during the game.

"Baptist Health Care exists for the sole purpose of lifting up this community. That purpose is shared by Dr. Andrews, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos and Quint Studer," said Mark Faulkner, President and CEO of Baptist Health Care. "All of us celebrating together the accomplishments of Dr. Andrews is incredibly well deserved and will only inspire Dr. Andrews, and all of us, to continue to raise the bar."

Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine was established in Gulf Breeze, Florida in 2007. Part of this partnership between Baptist Health Care and Dr. Andrews was borne out of a shared passion for youth injury prevention and sports medicine outreach.

The program has grown to provide sports medicine coverage that includes certified athletic trainers and team physicians to 26 area public high schools. Andrews Institute also provides area student athletes free annual preparticipation exams as well as concussion baseline testing, and, in the fall, free Saturday injury clinics are offered. These services are offered at no cost to the school districts or parents.

“While the world is blessed to have Dr. Andrews and the Andrews Institute, Northwest Florida is doubly blessed to have such an individual and an institution located here,” said Quint Studer, owner of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. “There have been people over the years who created and built on an idea that was in an infant stage. Without them an entire way of life would not exist. Dr. Andrews helped create and build sports medicine as an integral part of athletic activity.”

Andrews Institute has established Northwest Florida as destination for medical tourism and sports medicine care nationally and internationally.
