In 2007, Baptist Health Care and internationally renowned orthopedic sports surgeon Dr. James Andrews brought to life the vision of Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. Located in Gulf Breeze, Florida Andrews Institute offers convenient access to world-class care and a broad spectrum of services to help people improve their quality of life by treating conditions of the muscles, bones and joints. .

The Andrews Institute campus is home to dedicated research laboratories as well as education and conference facilities. Its multi-specialty clinical departments complement the services of affiliated physicians to provide a full spectrum of care. The Andrews Institute's mission is to provide evidence-based medical services for the musculoskeletal system, using the latest innovative clinical and surgical technologies, and to improve patient care through research and education with an emphasis on prevention.

The collaboration between Andrews and EXOS

The Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine was designed to provide an all–inclusive facility for patients to quickly and easily access. Our campus is comprised of the following clinical departments in order for the patient to receive their care conveniently and efficiently in one location.The Andrews Institute Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is 26,000 square feet including eight digital operating rooms with multi–specialty surgical capabilities. Features of the surgery center include interactive observation and digital imaging as well as video and audio conferencing. Innovative anesthesia and pain management techniques allow patients to go home comfortably within hours after a procedure. The Andrews Institute uses the ASC not only to treat patients but has the capability to train physicians on the latest surgical techniques through a variety of educational opportunities including our fellowship program.

Imaging Services at the Andrews Institute include digital radiology and the 3–Tesla MRI which produces a better image quality with faster output; providing a shorter test time for patients. The Andrews Institute was the first on the Gulf Coast to have the 3–Tesla MRI available to patients.

Andrews Institute Rehabilitation is a 12,000 square foot facility with highly specialized physical and occupational therapist using state–of–the–art equipment to help patients recover from orthopaedic injuries. A highly specialized approach to rehabilitation combines patient education, instruction in individualized exercise programs, manual therapy, aquatic therapy and a full range of modalities to help patients achieve the best possible outcome. Andrews Institute Rehabilitation has convenient locations located throughout Northwest Florida.

The Institute is also home to EXOS (An internationally known organization for training top professional and elite athletes and highly specialized military personnel. Not only available to the elite, EXOS has programs for executives as well as a college prep program open to athletes as young as 14 years of age. Other EXOS locations include Tampa, Arizona, Los Angeles, and Dallas. The collaboration between Andrews Institute and EXOS allows an athlete to receive their medical care at the Institute while training at EXOS under the direction of their strength and conditioning coaches. An Andrews Institute physician is always available for consultation if there is a concern regarding an individual’s training progress or protocols.

LEGENDS CAFÉ A TREAT FOR THE PALATE, EASY ON THE WALLET

Visitors to the Andrews Institute can enjoy a unique dining experience at the Legends Café located on the Andrews Institute campus.

The menu was carefully considered to provide selections that are healthy, delicious and modestly priced.

Many of the menu items have an international flair but traditional choices are available as well — Mediterranean plate; Thai Peanut Chicken Salad; Cuban Mojo Pork Panini; Philly Cheese Steak; Grilled Fish Tacos; and much more. The median price for an entrée is around $8.

Employees selected the name for the eatery. The term “Legends” pays homage to the talented athletes who visit the sports medicine facility for treatment and training and to the physicians and staff who care for them. The Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine provides world–class care and service for the athlete in everyone.

The Legends Café is open to the public for dine–in and take–out, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition to a full menu, grab–and–go meals are available including Starbucks coffee. Both the Breezeway and the Legends cafés are owned by Gulf Breeze Hospital and operated by Sodexo.

The café is located on the second floor of the Andrews Athletic Performance & Research Pavilion, 1020 Gulf Breeze Parkway.
